JMAAB (Japan MBD Automotive Advisory Board) was established in 2001 by several Japanese car manufacturers and ECU suppliers as a MathWorks product user association based on the basic philosophy of “Cooperate with tools and compete with products”.
 Between June 2012 and March 2013, a workflow study on the use of the formula manipulation tool MuPAD (included in Symbolic Math Toolbox) and the plant modeling tool Simscape was initiated as Plant Model Workshop 3 (PMWS3). This document was also created as part of this initiative.
 In the field of automotive control system development, using formula manipulation tools is still uncommon. Consequently, no matter how effective formula manipulation tools are in helping to achieve the ideal plant model, training from a rudimentary level and time are required to use one effectively.
