Reads the High-resolution Transmission Molecular Absorption Database (HITRAN) into a structure in the MATLAB workspace.
HITRAN is a collection of data of spectroscopic parameters related to the transmission of light through the atmosphere. It is compiled by the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
This function requires a copy of the HITRAN database. The database is available from the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics by completing their online request form.
