ModifiedMZeroCross is for calculating ocean wave heights and periods from sea surface height data.
A method applied to extract statistics from raw wave data is the zero-upcrossing or zero-downcrossing method.
The waves are defined as the portion of a record between two successive zero upcrossings/downcrossings.
