This MATLAB exercise shows the mu law input-output characteristic for a range of values of mu from 1 to 500. The program illustrates the impact of mu law companding on a speech signal, showing the signal histograms of the original speech signal along side of the histogram of the mu law encoded signal. The file '5.4 Mu Law Compression.pdf' provides a User's Guide for this exercise.
