Image Processing and Character Recognition System using Matlab and the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. The project is an image processing and character recognition system using the Matlab image processing toolbox and the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. The system is attempting to model a parking garage entry where the Raspberry Pi camera module will acquire an image when triggered. The image is transmitted wirelessly to a laptop containing Matlab where it is pre-processed before being applied to the OCR engine. The resulting string is compared to pre-entered registration plate numbers and a positive or negative match will result in a green or red LED being switched on by the Raspberry Pi. A Graphical User Interface has been designed to display the acquired image alongside images depicting various stages of the pre-processing algorithm. The detected string is also displayed as is the result of comparison.
