Development of an Enhanced Heavy Duty Truck Autonomous Driving Environment
Bibin Pattel, Cummins
In this presentation, we introduce an autonomous driving simulation framework for heavy duty trucks based on MathWorks and third-party technologies. The goal is to assess how existing engine/vehicle control features perform when integrated with autonomous driving, and explore innovative solutions for new scenarios. System performance under different driving conditions such as stochastic highway traffic scenarios and highway merging scenarios are evaluated. This framework also enables engineers to simulate real world highway routes by capturing the details such as road curvature and grades. With this simulation platform, different vehicle, powertrain, ADAS, and autonomous driving controls can be integrated and tested.
