Teaching and Learning with Agentic AI
Overview
Learn how educators and students use agentic AI tools with MATLAB and Simulink to create engaging curriculum and support student skills development. Educators will learn how to use these tools in their own curriculum development, as well as how to equip students with tools to aid their mastery of academic concepts. Attendees will see examples of agentic AI workflows for creating instructional content, hands-on activities, and assessment, as well as the creation of AI tutors that teach MATLAB and Simulink skills to students. We will share insightful customer stories that demonstrate the practical application of these technologies in teaching and learning.

About the Presenter
Jeff Alderson leads education product marketing initiatives focused on teaching and learning workflows, including MATLAB Grader and MATLAB Course Designer—platforms used by thousands of instructors and hundreds of thousands of learners worldwide. His current work includes the application of generative and agentic AI to improve instructional design, assessment, and hands-on technical learning experiences. Jeff received his B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from WPI in Massachusetts and his M.Ed. in education policy, organization, and leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Will Greenwood is a technical program manager at MathWorks. He supports programs in the Education Marketing organization related to curriculum development, hardware connectivity, and generative AI. Prior to joining MathWorks, Will was an Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at San Jose State University. Will received his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor specializing in geotechnical earthquake engineering.
Akhil Gopinath is the Senior AI Liaison at MathWorks, where he leads the company's academic and research AI strategy. Over the past decade, he has worked with researchers globally, alongside engineering teams across industries, on taking AI from research to production. His current focus is agentic AI for engineered systems, building agents that reason over models, run simulations, and act on physical-world systems, with applications in advanced controls, autonomous systems, manufacturing, and healthcare. He also guides institutions on integrating local agentic AI stacks with high-performance computing resources, enabling research groups to run AI workflows securely on their own infrastructure. A chemical engineer by training from IIT Madras, he has published research in AI-based surrogate modeling and speaks regularly at international conferences and research institutions.
