Teaching Model-Based Systems Engineering in Undergraduate Engineering Education
Mehdi Vahab, MathWorks
Systems engineering is a fundamental concept in engineering education, providing students with the necessary skills to design, model, optimize, and manage complex engineering systems. With the growing complexity of engineering systems, understanding and practicing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) has become more critical than ever before. The teaching of these concepts and practices could be an integral part of curriculum development in undergraduate engineering programs.
We cover the following topics in this talk:
- The importance of systems engineering from the industry point of view
- The significance of learning MBSE workflows for student development
- How to integrate MBSE concepts into the curriculum: challenges and opportunities
- Case studies and examples of teaching MSBE
- Tools and resources for teaching MBSE
