Does the Mapping Toolbox support Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data?

I would like to know if the Mapping Toolbox supports Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data.

The Mapping Toolbox imports and exports generic GIS data in several formats, including shapefile, TIFF/JPEG/PNG with work files, GeoTIFF (read only), and ARC ASCII Grid (read only) and it imports from various more specialized formats (DTED, USGS DEM, SDTS DEM, etc.). Please run the below command in the MATLAB R2018b command window to get the release specific documentation:
web(fullfile(docroot, 'map/find-geospatial-data-online.html'))

The Mapping Toolbox imports and exports generic GIS data in several formats, including shapefile, TIFF/JPEG/PNG with world files, GeoTIFF, and Esri Binary Grid (read only) and it imports from various more specialized formats (DTED, USGS DEM, SDTS DEM, etc.).
