When attempting to activate or deactivate MATLAB, without having admin rights, the following may occur:
  1. A brief flash of the MATLAB icon in the task bar and then nothing
  2. A Windows dialog box popping up prompting the user to enter the administrator's user name and password for administrator approval
It is recommended that the end user gets their IT admin to grant permissions to the activation client to get MATLAB activated, particularly for Designated Computer licenses, since the following will only grant access to the license on the currently logged-in user's own account.
For individual licenses, if the end user is unable to get an admin to help them, they can do the following:
Follow this article until they reach the step "Use the activation client to activate MATLAB or other MathWorks products with the license file" as we'll need to manually add the license file instead.
