Suppress Window using System Command

I am trying to open a software. Using command prompt, I can open it in the following way. How can I open it using Matlab system command? I need to use "display off" to suppress a pop-up window.
cd C:\Program Files\Bentley\Offshore\MAXSURF CONNECT Edition V23
MaxsurfModeler64.exe display off

need bracks over the folder.
cd("C:\Program Files\Bentley\Offshore\MAXSURF CONNECT Edition V23");
cmd = "MaxsurfModeler64.exe display off";
system(cmd);
The code does not proceed to the next line. It successfully opens the MaxsurfModeler64.exe but it does not proceed further. What should I do?
Can I use display off when I need to have a "&" at the end of a command to make the program run in the background? For example command "XXX.exe display off &" displays the cmd. Command "XXX.exe & display off" parameter & does not work.
