Why do I receive the error "Unable to install the support package to the following folder because you do not have write permissions."?

Why do I receive the error "Unable to install the support package to the following folder because you do not have write permissions."?

 Accepted Answer

You are receiving this error because you do not have permissions to install support packages to their installation folder. To resolve this, there are the following workarounds:

Grant permissions
Please ensure the user installing the support package has proper permissions to do so. This should include permissions to read, write, and execute from this folder. See your Operating System's instructions for granting permissions. Please contact your computer's administrator for help, if needed.

Change Support Package install location
Alternatively, you can also change the installation location for support packages to a location where you do have permissions. Note: This will cause already installed support packages to be lost from MATLAB, and they'd have to be reinstalled in the new location. To change the folder that Support Packages install to, see the article below.
How do I change the directory my support packages get installed in?

Running MATLAB with administrative privileges
Running MATLAB with administrative privileges should provide it the necessary permissions to install the support package in your desired directory. Note that you may still need to give other users access to this directory so they can read the support package files. Running MATLAB with administrative privileges varies between Operating Systems. Please contact your computer's administrator for help, if needed.
