Why does the Apple Magic Keyboard not work within the Live Editor in MATLAB Mobile on iPad?

4 views (last 30 days)
I have MATLAB Mobile on my Apple iPad (5th generation) running iPadOS 15.1, and I am able to use the Apple Magic Keyboard (2nd generation) to type into the MATLAB Command Window and Editor. However, I am not able to use the Magic Keyboard or any other third-party keyboard to edit Live Scripts in the Live Editor.
When I tap the screen, the cursor appears for a very short period of time, and then it just disappears right away.
Is there a fix or a workaround for this issue?

Our development team is investigating a fix for using the Magic Keyboard with the Live Editor on iPad for a future release of MATLAB Mobile.
For now, please try the following steps to temporarily work around this issue:
  1. Go to your iPad Settings, and navigate to Settings > General > Keyboard.
  2. Enable Shortcuts from your settings.
  3. Open MATLAB, open your MLX file in a Live Editor, and type on your keyboard.
  4. You should see the Magic Keyboard working as expected. Notice that on the bottom of the page, there is now a strip for Shortcuts.
Note that as of this post, we are able to confirm that typing in live editor works as expected on:
  • iPad (6th generation) running iPadOS 13.1 with Logitech Keyboard K480.
  • iPad Air (4th generation) running iPadOS 15.1 with Apple Magic Keyboard (1st generation).
  • iPad Pro (4th generation) running iPadOS 15.1 with Apple Magic Keyboard (1st generation).
