Does the standalone support package installer work on Apple Silicon Macs?

Does the standalone support package installer (Support Software Downloader) work on Apple Silicon Macs? When trying to download it, I only see an Intel version available. When I try to use it, the icon bounces in the dock and then disappears, and nothing happens.

The Support Software Downloader is not supported on Apple Silicon. If you're looking to download support package files for an offline Mac, please use an Intel Mac or another supported platform. 

Note that offline support package files can be obtained on any operating system via the Support Software Downloader, as long as the support package is available on the platform you're running from. For example, for a support package that is available on Windows and Mac, the support package can be downloaded on either a Windows or Intel Mac machine, but not Linux.
