Using a File Installation Key requires you run the installer from a MATLAB DVD or from a directory which contains files previously downloaded via the installer.
To obtain the missing files, click Back on the previous screen and select Log in with a MathWorks Account or contact your MATLAB license administrator.

I am not sure if this is something MathWorks supports technically or even from the license agreement in the first place. Can you tell me where you have received information about this being possible? Or do you just try?

Am I interpreting this correctly as "I have no idea whether this is supposed to work or not! I just try!"?
