What happened when you tried using "mex -setup" as the error message suggests?

You need some special steps to install SDK 7.1 on Windows 8. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2717426

Akhil,
As the error suggests, you need to install a C-compiler to use some products. This is not installed by default. Try installing a free "mcc compiler" (google for it to download and install). Then use the "mex -setup" command in MATLAB to connect your newly installed Compiler to MATLAB. This should fix the issues you're facing.

mcc is not a supported compiler that would be detected by mex -setup
