Why do I get an error regarding third-party software when downloading or installing a support package?

MathWorks Solution

The error indicates a potential connection issue that is blocking the support package from being able to download or install.
Attempt the following troubleshooting steps in order:

1. Run the installation with admin permissions

Begin with checking if a local computer administrator can perform the installation of the support package. Please note that support packages install in a user-specific directory on macOS and Linux.

2. Download the Support Package for offline installation

If a connection issues prevents MATLAB from downloading the required files, use the MATLAB Package Manager (MPM) to download the required support packages for offline installation. You may perform the download on a computer that is able to access the required MathWorks resources and then transfer the downloaded files to the target computer where you're intending to install the support package.
For instructions on using MPM along with other additional methods, see:

3. Configure a new Support Package root directory

If you are still encountering errors while installing the support package, try configuring a new Support Package Root for MATLAB as a troubleshooting step. For example on Windows, execute these MATLAB commands:
matlabshared.supportpkg.getSupportPackageRoot
matlabshared.supportpkg.setSupportPackageRoot('C:\ProgramData\MathWorks\MATLAB\newSpkgRoot')
Then close and re-open MATLAB and retry the support package installation.
For more information, see:

4. Contact MathWorks Support

If these troubleshooting steps don't prove helpful, please contact MathWorks Support and provide us with a copy of your log file:
Note: The following Support Package is currently unable to be installed on an offline computer and requires an internet connection:
