2017b opening variable error

Hi,
I previously used 2016b and have a lot of data. Recently, I installed 2017b. However, when I open the data via 2017b, an error pops up, saying that readonly,
Error: Unexpected matlab expression. workspacefunc.
What's wrong with it?
I'll appreciate it very much if any one can solve this problem.
Thanks,
Caroline

Hi,
I solved it. The Mathworks technician helped with this issue. It was because of an incompatibility of my setpath with the MATLAB built-in path.
We ran the following command to fix the problem:
>> restoredefaultpath
>> rehash toolboxcache

Is it an installation issue? If so, your fastest solution is to follow what the FAQ says:
And it's free!
Or, if it's a bug with your script, then attach your data and your script with the paper clip icon.

Hi, Thanks for you reply! This should be a installation error. My data(.mat) were generated in 2016b windows 7; Right now, I want to open the data in 2016b & 2017b, Windows 10, both popping up an error. It's not the problem of the version. Is that because of windows 10?
Do you get an error message upon opening MATLAB even before you run your m-file? If so, call the Mathworks. If the error only shows up when you run your m-file, then attach the m-file and your data so we can run it.
It's poped up when I open a variable in the workspace. There is no error when I run the script.
