Matlab asks for licence file location when installing via mathworks account
Show older comments
I'm using an academic - total headcount license (concurrent), when trying to install r2017b. In the installer I first have to login to my mathworks account, select my license (as described in the tutorial). But later on, I need to provide the license file location, which I thought would have been arranged automatically when selecting the license from my account.
What am I doing wrong and how can I solve this?

Which "tutorial" do you mean?

Did you take the time to ask an internet search engine already or search in the forum? You will find:
- https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/235126-how-do-i-generate-a-matlab-license-file
- https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/102845-where-can-i-find-the-activation-key-or-file-installation-key-fik-for-my-license
Maybe you mean one of these instructions by "as described in the tutorial", but I cannot know this. If this does not help, remember, that you can contact MathWorks directly for installation problems - see the "Contact Us" button above.

Fyi, I found it helpful that this question was asked as it lead to finding these links that you posted. I did a google search and this question came up, while none of the ones you posted were in my search results. And the original poster is right that the install process is very confusing. Why am I signing into the installer only to have to provide a license file??
