Use wavedec2, or dwt2.
wavedec2 is appropriate if you want a multi-level transform. If you just want the first level, you can use dwt2
load woman;
[A,H,V,D] = dwt2(X,'db2');
subplot(221)
imagesc(A)
colormap gray
subplot(222)
imagesc(H)
subplot(223)
imagesc(V)
subplot(224)
imagesc(D)
You can also do it by starting the Wavelet Toolbox GUI
>> wavemenu
and then selecting Wavelet 2-D
