Cannot run matlab error -9,57 [linux]

Hello, i have recently installed MATLAB with the licence provided by my College. I had already installed MATLAB once on that computer, but i have reinstalled my OS and all i had is therefore gone. Now, it is telling me that because of that license Problem (which is probably due to me reinstalling matlab), Matlab won't launch. The version of matlab i am using is r2018b. I am quite desperate for help.
Stuff that i have already done to try and solve the problem:
-I have downloaded online my license file and pasted it into my licenses folder.
-I have activated a new device with user...etc. I am not so sure if i was supposed to paste the entire MAC address for the license number.
-I have run once the weird license program that comes with matlab.
-The Hostid in my matlab license (the one stock) file and in my license Center match up. License numbers match up too.
Thanks,
Carl.
