Why is MATLAB R2017a slow when interfaced with COMSOL LiveLink

Is there any reason that would cause Comsol 5.3a LiveLink with MATLAB R2017a to be slow? Specifically, using MATLAB R2017a with COMSOL LiveLink version 5.3a is slower than LiveLink version 5.2a but faster than version 5.3.

Do you notice any performance degradation when using MATLAB R2017a independent of COMSOL? If not, then since COMSOL LiveLink is a third-party product, we recommend to contact COMSOL Support regarding questions about the usage or support of this product. We suggest this especially given that, as you noted, the performance varies across different versions of COMSOL.

One suggestion that I can provide is perhaps to check with COMSOL Support whether or not LiveLink supports the Parallel Computing Toolbox that MathWorks offers, in case this might be applicable for simulation performance improvement in your workflow.
