Add world map background to contour plot

i have .shp file for India. How to plot lat lon data on it, so that it remain in bacground.

S = shaperead(filename) ; 

Now you have your lat, lon coordinates in S..extract them and plot. Mostly the following shall work .

S = shaperead(filename) ; 
lon = [S(:).X]'; 
lat = [S(:).Y]'; 
plot(lon,lat)
