Re-install MATLAB on the same computer

20 views (last 30 days)
Due to my fault in setting install paths I am not able to use MATLAB R2019b. I want to uninstall it and re-install setting correct paths, but at the same time I don't want to lose my license. How could I do? I know that, after deactivating a licence, I cannot "install MATLAB on the same computer"
OS: Debian 9.

@Raphaëlle Schlienger Yes, it's below. You can uninstall MATLAB. It will then ask you if you want to deactivate all copies of MATLAB on that computer. You may, or may not -- it doesn't matter. Regardless, when you reinstall, and after all the files are put on there, you need to re-activate MATLAB and it will work fine, unlike what @Massimo Stanzione said. If you still have trouble, call them (yes, actually talk to a real live person) for free help, even for student versions. They will talk you through it.

If you do agree to deactivate all copies of MATLAB, then as you use each version of MATLAB, it will require you to activate it. Activations are per-version, but as long as you are using the same license, activating multiple versions of MATLAB do not "use up" additional licenses.

I don' think that's true. In fact I have multiple MATLAB's of different versions on my computer and they all use just one activation for the whole lot of them. I really doubt uninstalling and reinstalling will prevent you from activating. But you can call them on the next business day and they'll talk you through it.
