std:exception: Value of setting could not be read

When I try to start MATLAB, I get this Fatal Error On Startup dialog: std:exception: Value of setting could not be read.
Does anyone know what's wrong about this or how to fix it?

This error can occur when MATLAB gets corrupted during the installation process.
To resolve this issue, disable any security software or allow exceptions for the MATLAB application and then perform a clean installation of MATLAB.
