I installed R2012b a few weeks ago. iMac and Macbook Pro and I was not thrilled about the complete overhaul in the user interface, however, I wanted to give it a chance. After working with it for a couple of weeks - I just don't like it and was looking to see if there was some setting I could change that would drop back to the previous user interface. However, I have not been about to find such a setting.
Is there any way to drop back to the previous user interface or am I stuck?

You're stuck :)

It is not clear to me from the documentation, and I do not have a Mac to check, but you probably can launch MATLAB with the -nodesktop flag. This will take you back a couple of generations and leave you with the beautiful and efficient command line.
