When working from home, why do I get error message of port 31515?

When launching Appdesigner or Simulink, I get error message of:
Did not start the server. Desired port was: 31415.

MATLAB needs port 31515 to run some features like Appdesigner and Simulink. You get the error if firewall or other software occupies or prevents MATLAB using this port. For working from home, VPN or proxy software might be the cause. Try to disable them and MATLAB should work fine.
