What erode function should I use?

Hi All, I have a simple block matching algorithm which compares two frames and ties to find the same macro block (16x16 pixels) with has minimal cost. The images are grey scale and I also extracted binary image where there is movement. My question is which erode function should I use to eliminate some minor noise? I tried: SE = strel('disk',1); IM2 = imerode(A,SE); But the erosion was too much that even parts of the monitored image was considered as noise.

Are there any other possible functions to eliminate noise and extract the object?
