Hi,
I would like to model a Single phase Asynchronous Motor in order to derive the characteristic curves by applying to the motor different loads. I have noticed that there are many blocks available for this type of motor as shown below. The main difference is the first one is a simscape physical model representation whereas the second is a numerical model. I would like to ask which is the better choice for the above described purpose?
Best regards,
Andrew.

There is not about a best block to use. Equivalent functionality is available in two different technologies, Simscape and Specialized Power Systems. Depending on what is simulated it would make sense to use one technology or another. If you plan to use multi-domain simulation with electric, thermal, mechanical, and other domains it is best to use Simscape technology.
