The MATLAB installer is asking for a license file when installing a network seat of MATLAB. Where can I find this file?

During installation, you will need to use the license.dat that resides in the Network License Manager directory on the license server, or a file named network.lic. When the Network License Manager is installed in its default location, the license.dat file on the server machine is located in (with R20XXx replaced with the release installed, such as R2024a):
Windows
C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R20XXx\etc
Linux
/usr/local/MATLAB/R20XXx/etc
If you do not have access to the license server, or do not know which machine acts as the license server, please contact your License Administrator for the license.dat file.

During installation, you will need to use the license.dat that resides in the MATLAB license manager directory on the license server. The license.dat file on the server machine is located in:
$MATLAB/etc ($MATLAB\flexlm for releases prior to R2010b on Windows)
(where $MATLAB is the MATLAB installation directory)
Note: This license.dat file must contain a SERVER line. Additionally, if you are looking for an updated license file for a newer release of MATLAB, please see the related solution: 1-5VWC8W 'How can I get my Concurrent or Network Named User license file for R2008a and higher?'
If you do not have access to the license server, or do not know which machine acts as the license server, you will need to contact your license administrator for the license.dat file.
