Installing a MATLAB Trial License is the same as installing a professional MATLAB License. When using a trial license, both the installation and activation of the licenses are required.

How do I install MATLAB or other MathWorks Products?

An installation of the trial license, whether installing MATLAB and products or just additional products to an existing installation of MATLAB, will also activate the license. However, if products are already installed, just the activation of the license will be required.

If you are looking to get a trial license for additional products, and have MATLAB installed, you can use the Add-On Explorer to access new Products - all without leaving the MATLAB environment. Download, install, and use add-ons to extend your capabilities of MATLAB. Whether it’s a toolbox, new apps, hardware support packages, or community submissions - quickly find what you’re looking for using the Add-On Explorer

If you have recently purchased a new toolbox you can also install it with the MATLAB Add-On Manager

Note that you will not be able to install the trial products into an existing installation using the Add-On Explorer if your license's Software Maintenance Service has expired. In this case, you should add the trial products by rerunning the MathWorks Installer.
