How can I deactivate MATLAB on a machine I cannot access?

I need to deactivate MATLAB but I cannot access the machine that MATLAB was installed on. Therefore, I am unable to retrieve the deactivation string. How can I deactivate MATLAB without the deactivation string or access to the machine MATLAB was activated on?

It is possible to deactivate MATLAB even if you do not have the deactivation string, or access to the machine in question at all. This is done on the MathWorks License Center.
To deactivate MATLAB from the MathWorks License Center
  1. Go to the MathWorks License Center.
  2. Select the license you want to deactivate.
  3. Select the "Install and Activate" tab.
  4. Under the last column, "Deactivate," click the blue X in the row of the activation you wish to deactivate.
At this point, the process differs depending on the activation's validation status.
If validation is current
  • Confirm the deactivation by clicking "Deactivate."
If validation is overdue or disabled
  • Enter the deactivation string, if you have it. Follow the instructions on screen to obtain it if you do not.
If you cannot obtain the deactivation string
  1. Click the "Manual Deactivation agreement" above the buttons near the bottom of the form.
  2. Answer the two questions on the page.
  3. Type your name to confirm that you cannot retrieve the deactivation string.
  4. Click "Submit Agreement to Deactivate Software" to complete the deactivation process.

Question: How do I determine which Host ID corresponds to the inaccessible computer?
Answer: I identified the Host ID of my accessible machine using these instructions and deactivated the other one.

Do not have this column in my Mathworks-Account . Do I have to be Licence-Administrator to see it?

Hi Maximilian, this view is for the administrator, if you are the end user on the license, you should see "Deactivate a Computer" under "Related Tasks" on the Install and Activate tab.
I am an end user and on the "Install and Activate" tab I only have "Activate to Retrieve License File" under "Related Tasks". I didn't find "Deactivate a Computer". Can you help me please to desactivate MATLAB from the MathWorks License Center because I changed my computer and I need to use my license in the new one.
Hi Abir,
If you only see "Activate to Retrieve License File", the computer may already be deactivated and you can activate your new computer.
Without a license number, its hard to give to you an exact answer. Please contact MathWorks support if you need more assistance.
