Advancing Engineering Education with Virtual Labs
Magnus Egerstedt, Georgia Institute of Technology
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated ongoing transformations by forcing the adoption of new technologies across industries, including education. One of the most challenging areas to adapt existing instructional and development workflows into a new format is in the laboratory. In this session, you’ll see the fundamental components of lab work in engineering education and research outlined and mapped to online formats, plus examples of virtual lab activities and workflows using MATLAB® and Simulink®. Get a detailed walkthrough of the Robotarium at Georgia Tech along with the outline of a vision for how virtual labs will enhance current education and research strategies.
