MATLAB R2020a Missing File Error

9 views (last 30 days)
I recently uninstalled MATLAB R2019b and was attempting to install R2020a. I have attemtped to install it twice and each time I got the same error which stated that there is a missing file. On my first attempt I assumed it was a internet connection issue so I switched to LAN and on my second attempt to install MATLAB I received the same error. I am currently on my third attempt to install this program. I will update on whether the installation succeeds. Any ideas on what could be the cause of this error?

I solved it by moving installation files from my old secondary drive to primary drive where Windows is installed. I think it was a HDD problem not about MATLAB installer.

I got through with my installation. Since I originally had R2019b installed on the system, when I uninstalled it the original directory remained on the C drive.
Navigate to the location of the original installation and delete the existing directory.
Example: C:\Program Files\MATLAB and delete the "MATLAB" folder.
Also navigate to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local" and delete the Mathworks library
or
Navigate to "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\MathWorks\MATLAB\R20XXx" and remove the folder "R20XXx"
If you cannot locate the "AppData" folder, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives" option. You can do this by clicking on "View" in an explorer window and checking the "Hidden items" box.
I referenced this thread https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/515687-missing-file-error-while-installing-matlab-r2020a to solve the issue but I did not have any issues due to an anti-virus.
