Chart not updating, numeric readout does

I'm monitoring a temp and humidity sensor outside of my house using a ESP32. I have it update every 15 minutes. On my channel I have a chart and numeric readout. The readout shows me that it is updating every 15 minutes but the chart's last update was 2 hours ago. This was working until I went into the properties of the chart and changed the time base from daily to 12 hours. I have tried refreshing the page, signing out and back in as well as reboot the computer, still 2 hours behind. Is there something else I have to do to reestablish the chart?

Thanks John

What happens if you change the timescale to not selected (the first blank option when you select it in the chart options). I assume you mean the 'timescale' when you select the chart options from the pencil icon on your ThingSpeak field chart. If I got that wrong, can you please clarify?

Chris

That worked, I did click on the pencil to get to the parameters. I thought that it was on daily but it must have been on "not selected". The last point now is the same as the numeric readout. I assumed the Timescale let me modify the time base of the chart. Is that just showing me the last 12 hours, if that was what I selected, of the current chart, similar to zooming in on a section of a graph but does not actually modify the timebase of the chart. Is that correct?

Thanks for your help

You can see a description of the timescale parameter in the charts API documentation . Its a way to distill data from a device that oversamples the sensor. It takes the first data point in the time selected and skips the rest of the data.

That makes sense, similar to a zoom a section of an existing graph.

I probably should read some of that documentation but I'm a typical engineer who just plays around with it until it works. I have a sign on my work bench at home "Instructions are for people who can't figure it out"

Thanks again

We do both - we try really hard to make the interface intuitive and then write the best possible doc to help otherwise. :) The timescale parameter is one that isn't so obvious, we appreciate the feedback.

It really is easy to setup. I watched a couple of YouTube video about how to make a channel and link your project to it. I've worked on a number of other SCADA systems so some of what I did here was similar to those. I've also downloaded the app to my phone so I can monitor the variables there.
