Description

Czero® specializes in applying sophisticated MATLAB® and Simulink® analysis and controls tools to solve our clients' challenging R&D problems. Czero integrates expertise in MathWorks tools with precision mechanical design, production, and testing experience to provide our clients with innovative and comprehensive solutions. Combining the power of MathWorks tools with Czero engineering experience has enabled proven results across multiple demanding projects.

Czero’s diverse client base ranges from startups to Fortune 500 companies, and includes universities and DoE National Labs, OEMs, and Tier 1 suppliers, as well as large-scale DoE and DoD initiatives. Typical application domains include prototype and production systems, component and system-level design and evaluation, on-road and off-highway engines, fuel injection, hybrid powertrains, hydraulics and pneumatics, turbomachinery and compressible flow, magnetics, advanced energy conversion systems, and balance-of-plant integration. Czero provides innovative solutions in transportation, clean energy, subsea and land-based oil and gas, power generation, aerospace, and defense markets.

Czero leverages MathWorks products in three broad categories:

Dynamic System Modeling: Custom open dynamic system models are built in Simulink to support all phases of product development. Ranging from early-stage performance predictions and architecture/sizing trade studies to plant modeling for hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing, these dynamic system models form the basis of an analysis-lead design. Czero develops these models in an appropriate manner (e.g. causal, acausal, S-function, co-simulation, etc.) and with an optimal level of fidelity and computational expense to effectively and efficiently answer the questions posed.

Control System Development and Implementation: Czero controls engineers leverage Simulink to develop advanced supervisory control algorithms, design and validate component and system-level control strategies, and develop and deploy Simulink based control systems on a range of embedded prototype and industrial targets. Control applications range from power management of hybrid vehicles and globally optimal control via dynamic programming to component and system-level controllers for complex machinery and HIL/SIL testing.

Data Reduction and Visualization: Czero engineers apply statistical processes and regression analysis to condense and extract relevant trends and relationships from large-scale test and simulation datasets. Czero’s domain expertise provides a firm understanding of the physical processes behind the data to more effectively identify and interpret these relationships. Data reduction programs are further supported through the development of custom GUIs that enable end users to quickly evaluate new data as it becomes available. Czero places strong emphasis on using MATLAB-based broad visualization tools to present and communicate simulation results through a series of graphs, curves, and surface plots, thereby providing richer content than can be communicated through single data point results.
