Motor-CAD is a unique software package dedicated to the electromagnetic performance of motors and generators and the optimization of their cooling. Developed in 1998, Motor-CAD is used by major motor manufacturers and universities worldwide.
Motor-CAD provides the ability to quickly and easily perform electromagnetic and thermal performance tests on electric machine designs, using an integrated system of software packages: EMag, Therm, and Lab. Accurate electromagnetic and thermal calculations can be done in minutes. The results are presented in an easy-to-understand format and allows design decisions to be taken efficiently.
Motor-CAD exports a reduced order electromagnetic model of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). This model is used to parameterize a Simscape™ Electronics block (FEM parameterized PMSM). For users focused only on thermal modeling of motors, Motor-CAD also exports a thermal model of the electric motor to Simulink® as a state-space matrix to be solved. This export only requires MATLAB and Simulink.
